Chain Drive Opener

The Chain Drive Opener is the most common type that we see in the residential marketplace today. This type garage door opener uses a metal chain and sprocket system to open and close the garage door. The chain drive is the noisiest opener of the three basic types. The basic types are the Belt Drive, Screw Drive and the Chain Drive we are describing here. If you have a detached garage, the noise of the opener may not be an issue in your choice. If you have a home that has an attached garage and your bedroom is above the garage, the noise could be a serious consideration If you have an attached garage with your bedroom above, and have teenage drivers in the family, you may want the noise of the garage door opening alerting you to the time your son or daughter comes home at night.

Advantages
• The chain drive opener is the least expensive of the three basic types
